Surgical management Of Vitiligo

Several forms of Vitiligo may fail to respond well to medical treatment and even in those, who respond to the resistant lesions do persist. Non responsiveness is probably due to either:
  • A tough and vigorous depigmentation process.
  • The conventional medical treatment which lacks the power to induce repigmentation.
  • Whenthe melanocyte reservoir positioned in the hair follicle is completely exhausted.
  • The normal melanocytes from epidermis or those at the border of lesions, fails to get stimulated because of unknown factors.
Final results are individual specific. Most of the patients are satisfied with the outcome of result, but repigmentation may not be always equal with normally pigmented skin in few.
