Mechanism of Surgical Repigmentation

There are two categories in which surgical treatments are intended.
  • The lesions with no melanocyte reservoir
  • Unsuccessful activation of melanocytes.

How safe is the procedure?

  • A unique and safe dressing is used
  • Trypsin inhibitor and special melanocyte media is not used, thereby averting the threat of carcinogenesis.
  • PBS used in the procedure is a buffer solution normally used in biological investigations; it is isotonic and non lethal to cells. PBS increases the melanocyte survival by hindering the osmosis induced cell death. So PBS has the advantage of melanocyte medium in terms of efficacy without its disadvantages.
  • The procedure uses only the superficial skin of the donor and recipient areas, thereby avoiding the scarring and the procedure will be carried out by a highly skilled dermatosurgeon.
